Don REich Biography
Don Reich was a long-time, prolific Sacramento painter whose artistic style evolved radically over his long career. Born in Martinez to a working class family, he was largely self-taught as an artist, but did study briefly at Sacramento City College under Wayne Thiebaud, Amalia Fischbacher and others.
From the outset his work was original and outside the conventions of realist art. Even small landscapes required and stimulated thought on part of the viewer. His highly abstracted landscapes have been shown at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the California Palace of Legion of Honor and the Dallas Museum of Fine Arts.
