Watercolor artist Noal Betts was born in 1937 and died in 1993, living most of his life in San Francisco. He was a consulting designer for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. (FDIC) during the Johnson administration. Known for his “shorthand” painting technique, Betts’ work is recognizable for his simplified shapes and use of negative space.
